Rebbetzin Fruma Schapiro was born and raised in Sydney, and trained as a teacher in Melbourne and New York.
In 1989 After receiving a blessing from the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rebbetzin Schapiro together with her new husband Rabbi Nochum, moved back to Sydney, and settled in St Ives to establish a Chabad North Shore. As a newly married couple they arrived with enthusiasm, determined to spread Yiddishkeit and have a positive effect on people's lives, setting out to enrich Jewish life and the Jewish community on the North Shore.
Over the past 30 years Rabbi and Rebbetzin Schapiro have initiated a wide range of activities and programs for all ages. Their passion for Yiddishkeit and genuine care and love for their fellow man have served as an inspiration and shining light for the North Shore community. Their strong leadership skills and uncompromising commitment to their mission and purpose have enabled them to continue to make a huge impact on the community.
Internationally renowned for her inspiration and guidance, Rebbetzin Schapiro's classes and lectures for women of all ages cover a wide variety of topics and empower women to strengthen their relationships and to maximize their potential as Jewish women in modern society.
As a teacher and mentor, Rebbetzin Schapiro connects with her students with genuine love and care. Hundreds of Bat Mitzvah girls have passed through her classes, and attribute their strength of character and Jewish journey to her guidance as a role model for growing teenagers, seeking direction, meaning, and a sense of purpose.
Rebbetzin Schapiro lives in Sydney and is blessed with 8 children and 6 grandchildren.
