Professor Haik is a surgeon from Israel with a strong background in burns and disaster. He is a specialist in Burns/ Reconstruction Plastic Surgery and is the current Director of the National Intensive Care Burn Unit and Director of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer Hospital in Israel.

Professor Haik is affiliated with the Tel Aviv University where he holds a Professorial appointment with the Faculty of Surgery. Josef is also a Member of World Health Organisation - Emergency Medical Team – Technical Working Group on Burns Care.

Professor Haik also holds an adjunct position with the Institute of Health and Research to facilitate greater collaboration between burns and trauma and the Burn Injury Research Node at the University of Notre Dame in Western Australia.

Haik has published over 100 peer reviewed journal articles in the area of Burns trauma and plastic reconstructive surgery. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the field. Professor Haik and his team are actively involved with international disasters globally.
