COVID-19 SHULE PROTOCOL UPDATE - 20 AUG 2020

Dear Members and Friends,

As you know NSW Health have very strict regulation for all businesses and workplaces including Places of Worship. In addition NSW Health have written to all religious leaders with further requirements.

Therefore we will be implementing NEW protocols in our Shule effective immediately.

IF THE HAVE ALREADY BOOKED FOR THIS WEEK, YOU NEED TO RE-BOOK & PICK YOUR SEAT. We apologise for the inconvenience.

As we are only four weeks away from Rosh Hashanah, these protocols will obviously apply to the High Holiday services. (Formal registration for High Holiday services will be sent out next week.)

  • There will be allocated seating in Shule with a map in the entry. All congregants must sit in their allocated seat only and must remain 1.5m from all other congregants (except for immediate family).
  • There will be dedicated COVID Marshals who will be ensuring everyone is following the safety protocols.
  • There will be no singing or chanting in Shule by the congregants, only by the Chazan. The Chazan will be adjusting some of the tunes to discourage singing. We are well aware that will be very challenging, however, as Jewish citizens of NSW we are obligated by Torah to follow the law of the land.
  • We will encourage and recommend congregants to wear masks.

The following former protocols will continue to be implemented:

  • One must receive clearance in writing to attend services at Chabad North Shore.
  • Form is available at: http://chabadhouse.org.au/covidapply
  • One must register for each particular service they wish to attend. A new form is now available which includes the requirement to choose your seat.
  • Form is available at: http://chabadhouse.org.au/covidregister
  • One must not attend if you are feeling unwell in any way.
  • One must not attend if you have been in close contact with anyone who has tested positive to COVID-19 in the past 14 days.
  • One must not attend if you are awaiting results of a COVID-19 test.
  • One must sanitise their hands upon entry.
  • One must maintain the 1.5 metre social distancing rule.

We continue to pray for the health and wellbeing of all people and look forward to ushering in the new year which will be blessed with only revealed good health, happiness, peace and prosperity.

Shabbat Shalom and K'Tiva Vachatima Tova - may we all be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet new year.
